Events and conferences
Heritage is also a living field of debate. This page brings together a selection of exhibitions, conferences and initiatives that help to keep abreast of the research and the public discussion around Portuguese heritage. It is not an exhaustive calendar, but a pointer to what is worth following.
Where it happens
The activity is concentrated in a group of leading institutions:
- The universities with research in heritage, architecture and archaeology — Coimbra, Lisbon, Porto, Évora —, which organise open lecture series.
- The national museums, with their programmes of temporary exhibitions and conferences — from the National Azulejo Museum to the Côa Museum.
- The Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage and bodies such as ICOMOS-Portugal, which frame the technical and doctrinal discussion.
Following the project
The updates to Patrimónios — new essays and revisions — are recorded in News. This calendar will be enriched as the project grows and establishes partnerships with institutions.
Do you know of an event that ought to appear here? The project welcomes suggestions.
